Short Story for Kids written by: Carlos Cebrian González.

He was called Angel, but everybody called him Lolo since small.

He was a sad and selfish kid, an only child and very lonely, because it was so fatty, and was always thinking about eating, at any time, so, his class mates rejected him.

short-stories-boy-fat

Hi parents, Josh and Sarah, used to give him a coin every day to buy a snack. He did not lack anything, but missed the company of a friend, or to be appreciated by the other boys and girls of the town, solitude saddened him.

Lolo enjoyed eating a cake, fried chips and popcorn after school, unaware of the other´s economic problems, the other boys and girls, who did not have money to buy candies because were poor.

That was his life, getting more fat and noticing his neighbors´ rejection due to his antipathy. Until one day, the teacher explained them that children in Africa were hungry and had no food.

That night, after school. Searched inside his pockets, the coins his mom gave him that morning to buy a cupcake and chocolate, and remembered what his teacher had said about Africa.

Sat on a bench situated at his town main square, in front of the candy shop, and for the first time, forgot he was hungry.

“What´s wrong with me?…Why I´m not buying popcorn? and, what about those giant and delicious lollipops?” – He was about to get into the shop when saw a good fairy who reminded Lolo that there were many poor people, not only in Africa, but also at the village, that didn´t have enough food.

Was when the fairy asked him:

-”Lolo, Do you know how many seed could you buy with the money your parents gave you?”

-”Are you talking about seeds? I don´t want seeds, I´m not a bird. I want to buy candies, because I haven´t eaten in a few hours and I´m hungry”.

-”Trust me Lolo, you will gain weight if you keep eating sweets, and children won´t stop teasing you, and you will feel really bad if they reject you. But if we made a deal, you will loose weight and everybody will appreciate you”.

-”Ok fairy. I accept the deal, what should I do?” – asked Lolo not too excited for having lost the snacks he wanted to devour.

-”well done , Lolo. Now go to buy seeds to plant chards, lettuce, tomatoes and onions”.

- “But I´m not a farmer! I can´t work at the vegetable garden. My dad does that” – Said Lolo scared of the responsibility he was going to have at the vegetable garden.

- “Tell your parents that you want to plant vegetables in a part of your vegetable garden, to give to poor children what you collect, I´m sure they will encourage you to do it. You have to know that cultivating is a very good exercise to loose weight, so you will loose the annoying roll of fat that disturbs you to run, walk, and to play football with your class mates during breaktime”.

Helen saw lights jingling as fireflies approaching them, until one of them lied on her shoulders and thought she was hearing voices whispering in her ear, but that had to be impossible. Nevertheless, a sweet and melodic sound interrupted the silence:

- “Don´t cry”

She heard the voice really near this time. Shocked, fell backwards to the ground. And then, those green and gray lights became smaller and a woman dressed with brown colors appeared instead.

Tiny and Shiny, she could even fit in the palm of a hand. Helen opened her eyes, rubbed her eyes many times, until finally, she asked what was she doing there.

The fairy introduced herself and introduced the others being with her too. They were all very sad, because had heard her sobbing from their houses at the top of the trees.

The rabbit was also there, went out of his den, the squirrel too, who left her wet corner; even the snake woke up from her lethargy.

Obviously, there was a stir that night. The worry had reached all hearts. Suddenly, the fairies began to exchange knowing looks, laughs and whispers. They had a plan.

One of them shacked her wand pointing to the sky, and an emerald green light sparkled. Then, all of them said loudly:

-”Your wish will be done!!”

And Croaky´s eyes opened by magic, blinking sometimes. Helen was shocked and excited at the same time, her shout scared all the inhabitants of the forest, who jumped with joy when found out what happened.

Helen held Croaky in her arms and gave her the most tender of the kisses. The little frog had returned from her dream, and only love, real love could make the miracle.

Short Story for Kids written by: Olga Blázquez Sánchez.

Once upon a time…

There was a Kid who did not believe in stories about magic. The world had became a mixture of pavement and cement. Everything was gray; fumes, metals and concrete skyscrapers.

The kid, to whom everybody called Walt, went to school everyday automatically.

Short stories -the magician and the magic umbrella

Used to leave his house, cross a zebra crossing when the traffic light was green, walk in front of a bakery, in front of a fruit shop, turn right, and after ten steps, on the left, used to walk twenty steps straight a head before reaching the school´s door. Doing the same day after day, day after day…

The way back home was similar or even more monotonous. Making his homework; pencil, rubber and paper. And going to sleep every day, knowing that the next day will be identical to the day before.

But, one night, without knowing very well, why. Walt had a dream. He had not dreamed in ages. Acording to responsible people, according to adults, dreams were not useful.

Because dreaming is not productive, doesn´t generate money. That is the reason why Walt was used to not dreaming. Well, for what?. Nevertheless, that night, he dreamed, dreamed strongly, with his eyes tightly closed.

A magician appeared in his dream, silly thing! a magician…it was clear, magician did not exist. Magic was an invention of people from the past. Now the world was gray and serious. Now, the world was a perfect machine that generated identical days.

The magician in his dream had been clear:

-”Walt, escape from this world of crazy people and come back to the magic good sense: colors exist, reality is not mathematically designed. Many things can happen at the magic site”.

Just at that moment the alarma clock sounded.

Short stories - Wesley the boy wizard

A voice was sounding in his head: “Improvise, Walt”.

-”Improvising? what was that?”

Improvising is acting when the unexpected (magic) happens. After many hours walking around the street, Walt could arrived home, where his parents scolded him.

That night, he dreamed again. This time, the magician was up in a mountain without saying anything. It was just him, dressed in a blue tunic, at the top of a huge mountain.

Walt saw lots of colors accumulated at the mountain: The green grass of the top; with colorful dots (were the flowers); trees with brown trunks; gold colored  bees; gray roses; blue rivers, white snow.

Walt woke up worried again. Nature was outside, far from the city. He had to find that mountain. Prepared a rucksack with food and clothes inside, and began his trip.

He had never abandoned the metropolis to get into the wild territories. It took him much time and effort to find the way out. It was dark when he finally arrived to the field, and Walt saw the stars for the first time. Smelled the wet soil and heard the crickets. And Walt, believed in magic for the first time.

He spent that night in the open. Was cold, but he did not care. Screamed very loud without knowing why, but he needed to take out of his own body everything gray from the city.

The next day, saw the shape of the mountain drawn over the horizon. Walked without resting, climbed, creeped and dragged where he could.

It was not easy to reach the top of the mountain. Was disappointed when realized that nobody was there. closed his eyes to avoid a tear streaming down is cheek, and, at that moment, the magician appeared. Walt still had his eyes closed, but could see the magician.

-”Walt, I don´t exist, but magic does”.

-”Ok son, let´s visit the duck”.

They met the duck and then hen said:

-”Duck, duck, the sky is falling!”

The duck, very scared, asked: “Why are you saying this?”

-”Because my son was digging and a piece of something fell over his back”.

-”Let´s run to hide!”- replied the duck.

Then, they met the fox, who asked them curious:

-”Where are you going so scared?”

-”The sky is falling” – replied all of them at the same time.

“Let´s go, I will take you to a place where nothing will happen to you” – said the fox.

And all of them followed her. But the fox took them to a cave where they could never escape, she wanted to eat them.

They were very concerned, but hatched a plan together, escaped and lived happily at home. Later discovered what had really happened that day.

Suddenly, behind a big bush, she found a swing made of the branches of the trees. Din not hesitate for a second in going up the swing, swinging until the wind disheveled her hair.

She felt free and happy, rounded by flowers, wind and birds. And a swing that filled her with freedom. It doesn´t matter how little she is, she knows clearly what she likes and how she enjoys the swing.

Kept running until found a bridge and watched a green frog that was playing in the water. Karen was enjoying the drops that the frog was splashing with her hands. She let her go, understood the frog was scared.

Kept running and enjoying the garden suddenly, the little found a nest of birds, who were waiting for her mom to bring them food.

Karen observed them closely, without scaring them, enjoying their shouts of hunger. When the mother arrived, the girl moved away in order to let her feed her littles.

After a long time running and enjoying the garden, the little girl fell asleep with a big smile on her face due to the beautiful day she had between tulips.

And that is the end of the story…

-Moral of the story: Who respects and enjoys nature lives in a happy world.
